Before you get a quote for new cabinets

Your cabinets probably don't need replacing.

Most kitchens that feel dated are structurally fine. The boxes are square, they hold a screw, and they're in the right place. What's worn out is the surface, and replacing a whole kitchen to fix a surface costs about ten times what fixing the surface costs.

So that's the first thing we check at your home, and the first thing we tell you. If a full rebuild is what the room really needs, you'll hear that too, with the reasons and a number attached.

Two ways to transform a room

Resurface it, or rebuild it?

The gap between the two is enormous. The right one depends on what's wrong with the room, not on what you were planning to spend.

01 · Interior film

Change the finish. Keep the room.

A professional architectural film applied over surfaces that have been properly prepared. Cabinets, doors, frames, built-ins and counters stay exactly where they are. What changes is what they look and feel like.

02 · Custom cabinetry

When the layout is the problem.

The only option that can move a sink, widen a walkway or add an island. Frameless European-style cabinetry, designed around how you actually cook and built to your room's exact dimensions.

Architectural film is not contact paper. It's the same class of material used on hotel corridors and retail millwork: dimensionally stable, UV-resistant, and engineered for permanent installation.

What decides whether it lasts is the preparation. Every surface is degreased, abraded, filled and primed. Every edge is wrapped, never butted, and every corner is heat-formed. That is the craft, and it's why we'd rather turn a job down than rush it.

Same hallway. Different house.

Walls, casings, jambs, baseboards and the pocket door itself, all wrapped in film. Nothing was removed and nothing was rebuilt. The door, the tile, the coat hooks and the artwork are the originals.

Every project records a decision: what the room started as, which option we recommended, and why that was the right level of work.

Not only cabinets

One craft. Most surfaces.

The same technique covers nearly every flat interior surface, which is why a project here can be as small as one hallway's door frames.

Why DOSI

We don't start with a product. We start with the room.

  1. We talk you out of the expensive option

If your cabinets are structurally fine, we say so, even though replacing them is the bigger job for us. A recommendation you can't trust is worth nothing.

  2. Custom means the scope, not just the sizes

Take only the part you need. Film on one room's door frames is a real project here, not a favour.

  3. You see a price before you commit

You get a range at the first visit, before any design work, so nobody's time is spent on a project that was never going to happen.

  4. Your kitchen keeps working

Film is installed with your boxes, counters, sink and appliances in place. You can cook dinner the same night.

How it works

Start small.

The first step costs you nothing but an hour, and it's the one that decides everything else.

  1. ~60 min

    Free site visit

We check whether the boxes are square, hold a screw and are free of water damage, and listen to what actually bothers you about the space.

  2. Same visit

    An honest recommendation

Which of the two fits, why, and roughly what it costs, before anyone draws anything.

  3. 3–7 days

    Samples, then a fixed quote

Finishes are sampled on your own doors under your own lighting. Once you approve the real thing, the price is fixed.

  4. 1 day – 4 weeks

    Installation

Days for film, with your kitchen in use throughout. Weeks only if you chose new cabinetry.

  5. Same day

    Walk-through & handover

Every surface checked in daylight, every door and drawer adjusted, and a care sheet left for the finish.

DOSI wordmark

The studio

Most renovation advice comes from someone who only sells one thing.

If the only service a company offers is new cabinets, then new cabinets is what you'll be told you need. DOSI was founded by Won Young Jung to work differently. We install architectural film and we build custom cabinetry, so we have no reason to push you toward the expensive one.

Based in Bellevue and working across the Eastside and Seattle, the studio handles every project personally, from the first visit to the final walk-through. Our job is to make a home feel brighter and newer with the smallest change that actually gets you there.

Questions

Asked before most projects.

How do I know if my cabinets are worth keeping?

Three things decide it: whether the boxes are square and level, whether the material still holds a screw, and whether there's water damage under the sink. If all three are fine, and they usually are, keeping them is the right call. We'll tell you at the first visit.

Is interior film durable, or does it peel?

Durability is decided almost entirely by preparation. Film applied over a cleaned, degreased, properly primed surface by someone who knows how to wrap an edge lasts for years. Film rushed onto a greasy cabinet door peels in months. That's the whole difference.

How much does cabinet refacing with film cost?

Interior film projects start around $5,000 and usually take one to three days on site. Full custom cabinetry starts at $30,000. You get a range for your specific room at the free visit, before any design work.

Can I do just one part, not the whole kitchen?

Yes. One island, one wall of cabinets, the door frames in a hallway, a single vanity. Small scopes are normal here, and we quote them properly rather than padding them.

Do I have to move out?

Not for film. Your boxes, counters, sink and appliances stay in use the whole time. New cabinetry is the only option that takes the kitchen out of service, for roughly two to four weeks.

Do you work on commercial spaces?

Yes. Restaurants, retail, salons, clinics, offices and multifamily, scheduled around the hours you're closed.

Not sure which one is yours?

Let's look at the room first.
